HR Corner

DECEMBER. It’s the last month of 2015, so make it the best one!

The pay period ending 12/26/2015 will be funded and paid on Thursday 12/31/2015.

The last day to use your 2015 floating holiday is 12/23/2015.

Please ensure Technicolor has your current address and contact information (phone, e-mail, emergency contact) on file. The address that prints on the last paystub of the year is the address that the employee’s W-2 will be mailed to and we need to have the accurate contact information in case of an emergency.

You can update your contact information through Ask HR (, on the homepage, under “Update Personal Information” or by emailing Amanda McNerney at

Only 401k deductions will be taken out of the 12/31/2015 paycheck. No other deductions will be taken out.  Please note your benefits have not been cancelled as you will not see a health benefit deduction taken out of your paycheck. Benefit deductions are based on 26 paychecks a year so you will receive a reprieve for the 27th payroll.

If you are newly enrolled in the PPO plan with the HSA for 2016, please remember to open your HSA account through Fidelity before 12/26/2015. The employee needs to open their Health Savings Account with Fidelity in order for the funds to be deposited into the account by Technicolor.

As part of the Open Enrollment process, if the employee answers “I agree” to the Fidelity terms and conditions information on the HSA enrollment pages, then Fidelity will open the employee’s account ONLY to accept funds from Technicolor.

In order for the employee to use the funds that are deposited (employer and employee contributions) into the HSA, the employee must complete the account opening process.  The employee must go online to and complete the HSA account opening process.  If the employee needs assistance, they can contact Fidelity customer service at (800) 544-3716.

The time has come to finalize your STEP 2015 and assess your performance against the objectives that you previously set with your manager. The deadline to complete your self-assessment is December 31, 2015. But don’t wait until the last minute to get started!  Manager assessments must be completed by January 15, 2016.

Do not hesitate to take the initiative to plan a meeting with your manager as soon as possible. This is an important part of the STEP process. During your meeting, be sure to highlight your key achievements and discuss the projects you’ve worked on over the past year. One main purpose of the STEP process, and of these meetings, is to help you develop your professional skills. As you improve and develop, so does Technicolor, so we all benefit! Please prepare carefully for your meeting with your manager by visiting the STEP intranet page ahead of time. There you’ll find all the necessary forms and guidelines.

For your convenience, you can also set your goals for the coming year in parallel with completing your 2015 assessment. Beginning on December 12, you’ll have access to your STEP 2016 forms.  A couple things to keep in mind when setting your goals for next year:

Be familiar with the company’s Drive 2020 strategic objectives. Consider how your job function aligns with the greater corporate initiatives, and reflect that in your personal objectives. Following the recent acquisitions Technicolor has made, consider what integration activities you might contribute to, and be sure they too are reflected in your 2016 objectives. If you have joined the company recently, you will receive additional information about the STEP process shortly.

Should you have any questions or need assistance, do not hesitate to contact your local HR manager.

Wishing you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

Meet Morningstar Schott, account executive at Technicolor.

Morningstar started her post-production career working as a vault clerk at Lightening Dubs in Hollywood. She worked her way up into project management at IVC and shortly thereafter, moved into DI producing. After serving as the senior DI producer at Sony Colorworks, she accepted an opportunity to join Technicolor, where she is responsible for selling theatrical, broadcast, OTT, sound and beyond! “Why did I come to Tech? Because Marcie insisted that I come to the dark side…sales!” she laughs.

Born and raised in downtown Burbank, Morningstar is a regular ol’ pioneer woman, who enjoys farming, baking, preserving and crocheting (and making funny faces at her kids!) when she is not at work. She has a plethora of animals, including five dogs, two cats, a donkey, a mini-mule, a pony, three goats, a pig, three ducks, a gekko, and koi. She also would like to honorably mention the 35 chickens she had up until a month ago (her “ladies”) who got infected with a parasite and had to be put down - ladies of the ranch, rest in peace.

Although difficult to choose just one, her favorite books include Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One, and her favorite comic book is Transmetropolitan. She enjoys a good sushi meal, homemade pumpkin ice cream, and rocking out to Tom Waitts. She loves to travel wherever her Winnebago will take her. City of Lost Children is her favorite movie and her favorite sports team is daaaaa Bears.

If Morningstar could give her younger self a piece of advice, she’d advise her to “dream bigger”.

Final note:

“Dear, dear! How queer everything is to-day! And yesterday things went on just as usual. I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is, who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle!”
- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
